It is an idea that developed over a long time. It was not so hard to develop, but it was my hesitation. I’ll take a moment to explain that statement. I am so disgusted by manmade programs, plans and gimmicks; it turns my stomach to even think of such things. I have seen so much destruction and deception caused by these things in recent days, even the hint causes me to pull away.
When the Lord laid this idea on my heart, I openly played Jonah. I don’t want to start a club asking you to pay so much to join and then I send you something you don’t want and you accept it just because you believe in us. I don’t want to come up with a plan to push some ill thought out program that causes you to wish you never heard of The Warriors Sword. I just said “no Lord, I do not want to do this”. Already been there and done that.
I am realizing more of late how little difference we really make. Some of you are avid readers and you write and tell me about articles we have written months ago and how they affect you. Many just tolerate the magazine and website and really wouldn’t care if we were there or not. Any way you look at it, it is a very limited group of people that pays any attention.
With things so volatile, it is my belief we need voices not lifting up the banner of a political party or denomination. The voices need to lift up the name of Jesus Christ and call us back to Him. It used to be other nations that needed voices doing that. America has quickly become a nation in need of missionaries.
Several years ago, I traveled in a music duet called Blue Skys. One morning after a long drive to a venue, my partner said “I want to play something for you that I wrote last night. I think it could be a good one.” He began to play the guitar and sang “If you think the other nations are the only ones hurting, take a walk down the streets of your own town, there are people there who don’t know who Christ is, and they’re not ready for that trumpet to sound, the greatest mission ever given is to your neighbor just down the street, or to your brother who lives just outside of town, or to anyone just anyone you meet; Ours is an American Mission breaking the chains on the land of the free, ours is an American Mission reaching out from sea to shining sea, as we go on the highways and byways preaching the gospel to those at hand, ours is an American Mission to our brothers and sisters who need us in this land.” ©
I sat in amazement at the awesome words I had just heard. After the morning service, I sat down with him and wrote the other verse saying this: “So many people go into the nations, and forget all about this country’s needs, there are people dying in every city, not enough food for them to eat, we watch our children lost and hurting, abused and beaten by those they love, we’ve got to preach it from every rooftop, hey, there’s still hope in God above.” ©
We sang the song that night for the first time and received a standing ovation. We decided that would be the title song to our second tape. Unfortunately, the second tape never happened and the song went dormant except for just an occasional performance here and there.
Yet the design we had developed and the words of the song have never left my heart. We are truly on an American Mission. That is not in any way to belittle the mission works on foreign fields which I strongly believe in and support. It is simply to say we need voices in America lifting up the name of Jesus to people who don’t even know who He is. The symbol of the mighty eagle, our national symbol, expanding his wings across the wonderful cross has burned its imagery into my heart.
It is time for us to break the chains on the land of the free and preach the Gospel from sea to shining sea. It is our mission and it supersedes all other missions we may feel a part of. In order to truly make the impact, we have to spread the word that we are here and our voice is shouting loud. So far, we have really been unsuccessful in doing that.
I want to launch the plan for Project American Mission. I want to get the word spread and I want to see it happen in ways that do not make huge demands on you. I see people selling things for huge amounts of money, even within the Christian realm. It is disgusting and I believe it is disgusting to God. It is gimmicky and I do not believe that is how God wants us to be.
This is the plan that I want to give to you. We have made preparations to have t-shirts done. On these shirts, the front will have the American Mission emblem with the eagle and the cross. Across the top it will say AMERICAN MISSION and under the emblem it will say Breaking the chains on the land of the free. It will then include the website www.warriorssword.com
On the back, it will say AMERICAN MISSION reaching out from sea to shining sea II Chronicles 7:14. It will include the website address as well. This is an effort to give you something to discuss with those who might ask you what the shirt is about. You can tell them about your personal “mission” work and also to direct people to the website. You will also receive a Warriors Sword 2010 wall calendar with Project American Mission on it. This wall calendar is a Scenes of America 2010 calendar with beautiful scenic pictures. We are going to throw in an even better deal for you. The normal cost of subscription to THE WARRIORS SWORD magazine is $20 donation per year. If you join this group, we will extend your subscription for a full year from your current due date. In other words, if you are due to renew in June of 2010, you will go to June of 2011. We will then include your choice of whichever of our two books you choose. You can choose from the books I was blessed to complete recently and both of them have been loved by everyone who has read them. You can choose from the non-fiction book MORE THAN I DESERVE, or the Novel COMEBACK. You can then choose any one tape set and add it in. Check out page 8 for the list of available tape sets. Altogether, this would be $90 worth of items plus shipping and handling. We are going to do one book, one tape set, this gorgeous American Mission shirt, add one year to your magazine subscription, add in a Scenes of America American Mission Wall Calendar for 2010 all for a one time gift of $60 to the ministry and that includes your postage and handling. If you want to give an extra $10, we will include both books and save you the extra there as well.
How can you help with American Mission? If you have email capability, take a moment and send our website address to everyone in your email list. Ask them to send their email address to us. We will send them updates on a regular basis. This is a free service from the ministry. We are not attempting to gain anything from this but impact. We will begin updating the website on a more frequent basis and this will send word around quickly. We want the website to become something you can visit regularly to receive fresh new information.
Purchase the shirt and wear it on a regular basis. Purchase one for each member of your family. This is a beautiful shirt and you can spread the word. After you have joined Project American Mission, the cost of each shirt separately will be $17.
Purchase a set of tapes or the books we have available. We have worked hard to make these items impact oriented. If you listen or read, then you can pass the items on to someone else. When you have finished with each issue of the magazine, pass it on. Don’t throw it away. Give it to someone else. If you keep them to read over and over, that is great. If you just discard them then pass them on to someone else. We currently have friends in Iowa that have begun a new program with us. Everywhere I travel, I leave a set of books in that local Laundromat and they are donating the money to the ministry to cover those books. This is a great opportunity to plant information in a public location. What might you come up with to spread the word?
We are challenging everyone to begin daily prayer meetings. If you can do it at your church, that is fine. We are going to begin doing them at our church. If you cannot, that is fine. Pray wherever you are. You can talk to the Lord wherever you are. Begin praying every day as often as you can. Lift up the church, the country, the leaders of both, the preachers and the ministries. On the website, we will list periodic prayer requests for you to lift up on a daily basis. Please, we ask all of you to mention THE WARRIORS SWORD in your prayers. Don’t forget God says in II Chronicles 7:14 the prerequisites of revival are prayer, seeking God’s face, turning from wicked ways, and humbling ourselves. Three of the four of these prerequisites can be fulfilled when we go before God and pray. If all of us do pray, we will have a mass of prayer going up to Heaven.
If you think we can turn this around in any other way, you are deceived. No election or changing of policy is going to make the changes that are necessary. It is going to be prayer and turning our hearts back to the God that we serve. This is what Project American Mission is all about.
We need your help to help us make an impact of ministry like never before. We are praying for God to open doors, but we want Him to open doors that we do not have to come begging for money. The Living Faith Fellowship Church in Benson, Arizona already partners with us to air a weekly radio broadcast there. We are looking for other possible radio opportunities. We are working on other books and booklets and also more tape sets. We want to make the information available and then we need your help to get it out there.
This is THE major project of this ministry. We will continue to fight in the political and social issues, but our number one priority is to reach people for Jesus Christ. Help us to do that.
